The Closing
You’ve done it! You have finished the 21 Day Character Challenge! Now you are perfect… No, wait… No, you can’t change everything about your entire character in 21 days, but you can begin to set the course of your life for long-term character development in 21 days. I believe that you may have done just that.
The best thing you can do now is to set up a reading plan in your Bible with the year-long goal of reading it cover to cover. Do so with the intention of developing your character. You will no longer read the Bible simply for its stories, rather you read the story of the Bible. The story of the Bible is about God’s plan for rescuing his people. It’s how life works best. We eagerly await heaven but during this lifetime we can develop our character and then take our character with us into eternity.
If you aren’t involved in a local church, now is a great time to start. While books like this are great supplements to your local congregation’s teaching, it should not replace it. Books, studies, the internet, television, and all other various messaging platforms pale in comparison to the ministry that God has for you in your local church. The community that you need to be a part of is waiting for you. Pray that God would lead you to the right place and plant yourself there to grow. Even if you have been burned by someone in the past, don’t allow a flawed messenger to ruin a perfectly good message. Go back and trust that God will go with you. Better yet, trust that he has the perfect place for you!
For those of you who are planted in your local church, are you a part of a spiritually alive and growing small group? If not, why not? The Church is made up of people not walls. Northpoint Community Church in Atlanta, GA [USA] says that “circles are better than rows”. Meaning, find your way into a small group and develop relationships. Iron sharpens iron, so you and I sharpen one another [Proverbs 27:17]. Also, make sure you are serving somewhere in your local congregation. Most likely, God will do something more in you through that time of serving than just what a ministry gets from you. He works like that.
We have discussed much about being generous and loving people throughout this book. Now it’s time to put rubber to the road and be as generous and loving towards people as you know how. Ask the Holy Spirit to come alongside you. May he prompt you with reminders of how to love his people well. He will certainly do that for the cause of extending the Kingdom.

The Prayer
“Dear Lord Jesus, I pray, in faith, Romans 15: 5-6 over my new friend and reader. ‘May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.’ And Romans 15:13, ‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’ In Jesus’ name, amen.”
